Janice Faye Lovett, age 62 of Columbia, Tennessee; passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 on Jamie Drive surrounded by her children and family.

Funeral Services for Janice will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and is assisting the family.

A native of Muhlenburg County, Kentucky she was the daughter of Earl N. Hocker and the late Martha F. McCoy. She was a member of the Santa Fe Methodist Church. Her sincere love for helping others caused her to choose a career in private duty nursing, from which she had retired. A very talented lady, she enjoyed bird watching, and painting, crocheting and gardening. If you were to talk to her about her family, her face would literally light up with joy and you could see the pride she held for them. Although she had many interests and talents, her children and grandchildren were her life’s work.

Janice left behind to cherish her memory four children: John E. Scott, Jr. of Columbia, TN, Jamie K. (Ricky) Scott Reed of Columbia, TN, Janita F. Scott of Columbia, TN, and Michelle L. (Rodney Knowles) Lovett of Summertown, TN; her father, Earl N. Hocker of Columbia,TN; one grandson, C. Kirby Reed of Columbia, TN; six granddaughters: S. Katlyn “Katy” Reed of Columbia, TN, V. Kinley Reed of Columbia, TN, Savannah Jade Lovett of Summertown, TN, EmmaLee Haley Knowles of Summertown, TN, Kristen Ann-Marie Scott of Columbia, TN, Khloe Audrey Scott of Columbia, TN; one sister, Cathy (Don) Barber of Columbia, TN, two brothers: Harold Hocker and Darrell Hocker both of Columbia, TN, one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Scott, of Columbia, TN; four nieces: Brooke (Sherman) Patterson of Columbia, TN. Cassandra Hocker, Anna Hocker, and Nicki Peters; two nephews, Tony Peters and Brian Hocker, one step son, Dant Lovett of Columbia, TN, and one step granddaughter, Alaina Lovett of Columbia, TN; several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Barry Lynn Hocker, Jerry Newman Hocker and David Earl Hocker, the fathers of her children John Scott, Sr. and Anthony L. Lovett.

Pallbearers will include: Tony Peters, Brian Hocker, Sherman Patterson, Jamie L. Reed, Tony Helmick, and Don Barber.

Honorary Guests will include: Dr. Mike Sattasiri, Dr. Joel Kochanski, Nurse Brandy, Dr. Mark Messenger, Dr. Maura Lipp, Dr. Grace Wu, Jennifer Cotham, LPN, Dr Rebecca Severe and the 3rd floor oncology staff of MRMC.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
