James (Jim) W. Hill

November 8, 1944 - February 9, 2011

Mr. James (Jim) W. Hill, age 66, husband of Ruth Hill, and a native of Santa Fe passed away at his residence in Columbia on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 with his devoted family by his side.

Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be Friday, February 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hilltown Church of Christ Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hill was a native of Maury County. He worked as a truck driver, worked at Champion Concrete, Monsanta Chemical Company, & Spontex. He graduated with the class of 1963 from Santa Fe High School and was a member of Hilltown Church of Christ. After meeting the love of his life, Ruth, they were married and enjoyed 45 years together. He was an avid baseball fan and he was especially fond of the Atlanta Braves. He was very proud that Daniel Uggla (from Columbia) had joined the Braves. Mr. Hill would do anything in his power for anyone. He never met a stranger and he was a friend to all. His laid back personality and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hill left to cherish his memory two sons: Jeffery Wayne Hill & Michael James Hill of Columbia; two daughters: Tammie Renee Hill and Crystal Gayle Hill of Columbia; several grandchildren; Julie Renee Hill, James Cory Hill, Christopher Ryan Hill, Jacob Michael Hill, James William Hill, Blake Bolton, and Cody Goodwin all of Columbia; and one great-grandson, Peyton James Hill also of Columbia. Four sisters; Emma Jean Ragdale, Clara (Everette) Griggs, & Carolyn Hill Baucom of Columbia, Katie (Lamond) Eastep of Southgate, MI, and one brother, John (Marcella) Hill of Columbia.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Wilson and his father, James Francis Hill; along with two sisters, Jenny Williams and Mary Frances South.

Pallbearers will be: Ray Eastep, Ronnie South, Ricky South, Randy Ragdale, Gary Baucom, and Johnny Blake Hill.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Hill’s nephews.
