Mr. Mike Buben, age 85, husband of Betty (Kerbyson) Buben, and a resident of Zimmerman Road in Hampshire, Tennessee passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011.
A private Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Flint, Michigan, he was the son of the late Andrew Buben and the late Julia (Jupin) Buben and a 1st generation of his family born in the U.S. He comes from a family of twelve children, (7 boys/ 5girls) and all seven brothers served in the military; four brothers were in the military at the same time. He joined the Navy at the age of seventeen and faithfully served our country in WWII and also served on the USS Independence. He worked for 42 years at General Motors in Flint, MI in the Buick Division. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His outgoing personality caused him to become involved in many different organizations. He was a lifetime Mason, a member of the UAW, and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Mike thoroughly enjoyed traveling; he has visited all 50 states and traveled extensively to foreign countries. He and Betty traveled to South America, Africa, China, the Middle East, England, Europe, Canada, Germany, Poland, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Russia, and Australia. When he was at home, he loved to tinker around the house. He took pride in his yard and enjoyed yard work. He and Betty were married for 61 years. Mike was a strong & devoted family man. This loving husband, father, and grandfather will truly be missed by all of his family.
In addition to his wife Betty, he left behind to cherish his memory two children: Diana Burr of Hampshire, TN and Michael (Victoria) Buben of Butte, MT; one granddaughter, Andrea (Chaz) Shabdue of Hampshire, TN; three grandsons: Ryan (Jamie) Brown, Jon (Keri) Buben, and Zachary (Meagan) Buben both of Missula, MT; seven great grandchildren: Austin Blade, Xavier Buben, Neeko Shabdue, Dierks Brown, Therin Brown, Aeris Buben, and Zarek Buben, three brothers; John, Andrew, & Steve Buben; four sisters; Mary Kozma, Margeret Krieger, Helen Sproule, and Irene Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lewicki, and three brothers: Frank, Joe, and Paul Buben.
