Barbara Sue Atkins

December 31, 1941 - February 24, 2011

Ms. Barbara Sue Atkins, age 69 and a resident of Mt. Pleasant died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held for Ms. Atkins on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Atkins was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her pets and shopping, enjoying many hours watching QVC. She lived in Orlando, Florida before moving to Maury County in 2001. Ms. Atkins was an artist, attending art school and graduating second in her class. She also worked as a legal secretary and Realtor before moving to Maury County. She is survived by sisters, Nancy (Gary) Connelly of Columbia, Martha Adams of Crossville, TN and Cathy (Richard) Nolte of Nashville, TN; brothers, Ricky Atkins of Florida and “Tuggy” Atkins of Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Dewey Atkins and Vivian Lorraine Smith Atkins Tanner; stepfather, Raymond Tanner and brother, Elvin Dewey Atkins.
