Mr. James Scott, age 68, a resident of New Lawrenceburg Highway in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.


Funeral Services for Mr. Scott will be held on Wednesday, June 08, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Blowing Springs Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #19 of Columbia. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Maury County, Tennessee, Mr. Scott was the son of the late Willie Clyde Scott and the late Lena Pearl Workman. He was of the Baptist faith. He faithfully served our country, serving with both the Marine Corp and the also the United States Navy. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed knife collecting. He also enjoyed fishing and spent many countless hours listening to the Grand Ole Opry. Although he had many interests in his life, nothing could compare to his love for his grandchildren. Spending time with them was the joy of his life.

Mr. Scott left to cherish his memory two sons: James Henry (April) Scott of Mt. Pleasant, TN and John Paul Scott of Santa Fe, TN; the mother of his children, Patricia Potts, of Santa, Fe, TN; three brothers: Willie Ray Scott of Nashville, TN, Andrew Lee Scott and Charles Richard Scott both of Mt. Pleasant, TN; one sister Wilma Irene Smith of Mt. Pleasant, TN; his pride and joy of seven grandchildren: Britinii Scott of Selmer, TN, Dillon Scott of Santa Fe, TN, Taylor Scott of OH, Savannah Scott, Elizabeth Bytwerk, Sara Bytwerk, and Christian Bytwerk all of Mt. Pleasant, TN and one great grandchild, Cruize Cadrera of Selmer, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Edith Vanderpool, and two brothers: Jerry Wayne Scott and Stanley Scott.

Pallbearers will include: James Scott, John Scott, Tim Eising, Wallace Smith, Danny Smith, and Dillon Scott.
