Mr. Don Wayne Stephens age 67, and a resident of Sunnyside Drive in Columbia passed away at his residence unexpectedly on Wednesday morning July 13, 2011 in his sleep.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Georgina Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Stephens is a native of Sulphur, Louisiana, was the son of the late Roscoe C. Stephens Sr. and Jessie Curry Smithe Stephens of Sulphur, Louisiana whom preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Sulphur High School in Sulphur, Louisiana. He served as a merchant Marine for two years. More recently he worked as a self-employed welder. He was of the Presbyterian faith. His hobbies are camping by the river, and he loved motorcycles.
Survivors include: one brother; Roscoe (Marie) C. Stephens Jr., one daughter, Amanda Stephens, one granddaughter, Nevaeh Stephens and her grandmother Angie Owens; two nieces, Karen Stephens and Sheri (Bill Lovan) Gateley; three great nephews, Stanley Gateley, Wesley Gateley, and Bradley R. Gateley, along with one great niece, Haley Marie Gateley.
Pallbearers include: Jeff Walker, Kevin Hutton, Dale Tomlin, David Fuller, Allen Owens, & Wayne Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; Jon Meade, Bob Jandreauy, Stanley Gateley, James Wesley Gateley, and Bradley Roscoe Gateley.
