Mr. Bobby Horner, age 72, husband of Linda Horner and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee passed on Friday, August 05, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

A Private Memorial Service for Mr. Horner will be held on Tuesday, August 09, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude McMillion officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Burlington, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Jesse Willard Horner and the late Margaret Ramsey Noble. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. He had retired from IBM after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Horner enjoyed sports and he especially loved football. He was a loyal Titans fan. Although he had many interests in life, his love for his family was his top priority. When the grandchildren came along, they stole his heart. They were his pride and joy. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Linda, he left behind to cherish his memory a son, David C. (Katie) Horner of Franklin, TN; two daughters: Kimberly (Michael) Lervold of Lakeridge, VA and Kathleen (Wayne) Haas of Rochester, NY; two stepdaughters: Beth Smith and Jeanne (Britt) Wiles both of Lewisburg, TN; his nine grandchildren: Adam Lervold, Sarah Lervold, William Horner, Matthew Horner, Matthew Haas, Aspen Wiles, Grayson Wiles, Sophie Smith and Lily Smith; a brother, Paul (Glenda) Horner of Burlington, NC and a sister Jan(Larry) Cheek of VA.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia, 210 W. 8th Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
