A native of Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Luther Hubert Harris and the late Beulah Blanche (Pigg) Harris. After growing up in the Water Valley Community, she was a 1947 graduate from Santa Fe High School and she then went on to further her education at Draughon’s Business School. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She worked and retired as an underwriter for National Life Insurance Company in Nashville. Ms Harris truly loved and enjoyed life and her family. Her hard working attitude and dedication enabled her to succeed in everything she did. She had a passion for writing poetry and some of her inspirational poems were published in a couple of books of poetry. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo. As her family recalled Bettye’s life, it was evident that her joy and love had captured their hearts. Her loving and caring ways will truly be missed.
