Tonya May Thompson, age 35, a resident of Lindsey Drive in Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral Services for Ms. Thompson will be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and then again on Monday from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Maury County, Tennessee she was the daughter of Kenneth W. Thompson and Terri Thompson of Columbia, Tennessee. She attended Central High School and was currently working as a server for Pizza Hut. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Tonya enjoyed the simple things in life and thoroughly loved yard sales and finding bargains at Goodwill. One of her brothers described her as being one of the happiest people you could ever meet. Tonya didn't allow things to bother her and she looked at things through eyes of innocence. Her love and her kind and caring ways will truly be missed by all of her family and friends.

In addition to her loving parents, Tonya left behind to cherish her memory three daughters: Shana Danielle Thompson of Columbia, TN, Alexus Michelle Mikel of MI, and Rebecca Lee Morse of Mt. Pleasant, TN; two brothers: Jamie Thompson of Culleoka, TN and Joshua Thompson of GA; two sisters: Michelle Kolb of RI and Brandy Morgan of Unionville, TN; and two grandmothers: Martha E. Thompson of Columbia, TN and Phyllis Mooney of Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, William L. Thompson and Clifford E. Shelton and her uncle Mike Shelton.

Memorials may be made to the Domestic Victims Fund through Time for Change Community Services, 502 N. Garden Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
