Dorothy "Dot" Tarpley

November 27, 1928 - October 1, 2011

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Tarpley, age 82, and a resident of Pulaski, TN, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Life Care of Columbia.

Graveside services for Mrs. Tarpley will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski following visitation with family and friends from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Brother Danny McConnell officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are the men of Zion Acres Freewill Baptist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Lawrence County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lourine Carthart. She worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Community Hospital in Lewisburg, TN. She was a faithful member of Zion Acres Freewill Baptist Church in Columbia. Most of all, she was a loving presence for her family and church family, always there to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Tarpley was preceded in death by her husband, David Butler Tarpley; and children, Mary Elaine Tarpley, David Allen Tarpley and Bobby Joe Tarpley. She is survived by daughters, Lyndia Jane (Danny) McConnell of Lynnville, TN and Glyndia “Pud” (Johnny) Carter of Athens, AL; sister, Evelyn Shulths of Etheridge, TN, sister-in-law, Mary Alice (Raymond) Hickman of Lynnville, TN, 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
