Ruth Cothran

Glatron Ruth Hicks Wilkins Cothran, age 81, a resident 407 Porter Circle in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2011 at Southern Care Assisted Living in Franklin, Tennessee.

Funeral Services for Ms Cothran will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Family will visit with friends on Thursday, October 6, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and then again on Friday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late George Lemuel Hicks and the late Minnie Ruth (Bell) Hicks. She was a member of the Jackson Heights Church of Christ and in her recent years she was very active in working with the church. This loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother was an inspiration to her family as she worked lovingly and diligently as a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers and was an avid bowler. Her kind and gentle spirit will truly be missed by all of her loving friends and family.

Ms Cothran left behind to cherish her memory two daughters: Connie Ruth (Stephen) Lee of Brentwood, TN and Rita Carol (James) Odom of Mt. Pleasant, TN; one son, James Robert (Rheta) Wilkins of Cookeville, TN; one brother, James L. Hicks of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Ray Wilkins and her second husband, John E. Cothran.

Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Frasier, Russell Cothran, and William Cothran.
