Kenneth Michael Beck

June 30, 1952 - October 15, 2011

Mr. Kenneth Michael Beck, age 59, husband of Levada Beck, and a resident of Smokey Drive in Columbia passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Beck will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Dwain Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends from noon until the 2:00 PM funeral hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, he was the son of the late Lavon Gerald Beck and the late Mary Sue (Childers) Beck. He was employed by Resource Label Group where he worked as an Ink Man. This loving, caring, compassionate father and husband enjoyed fishing and in his younger days was great at sports. His family fondly recalled how he loved to cook and enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He had a heart for taking in stray animals and although he would say he wasn't going to take in any more strays; when he would find one, then they would no longer be a stray. He never wanted to hurt anyone and truly had a heart of love. When his grandchildren came along, they stole his heart. They were truly his pride and joy.

In addition to his wife Levada, he left behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Layla Michelle (Jerry) Hawkins of Columbia, TN and his three grandchildren: Joseph, Nathan and Taylor Hawkins; a brother, Jon (Paula) Beck of Warrensburg, MO; a brother-in-law, Bobby (Debbie) Easley of Columbia, TN and his in-laws, Tony & Barbara Dreher also of Columbia, TN and two nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard Beck.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Heritage Funeral Home to be dispersed to two church children's funds: Rock Springs Baptist Church and the First Family Children's Ministries both of Columbia, Tennessee.
