Betty Underwood Jett

October 31, 1929 - December 1, 2011

Mrs. Betty Underwood Jett, age 82, widow of Joe M. Jett, Sr. and a resident of Whitesell Road in the Mooresville Community, passed away on Thursday, December 01, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee with her family by her side.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Jett will be held on Saturday, December 03, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Barry Farris officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday, December 02, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and then again from 11:00 AM until the service hour on Saturday. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and is assisting the family.

A native of Lynnville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Lee Underwood and the late Ina Mae Thurman Underwood. She retired after many dedicated loving years of service with Columbia Academy. She was a faithful member of the Mooresville Church of Christ. She was married to the love of her life for over 63 years before his passing in 2009. She always wanted to take a cruise and following her retirement was able to enjoy twelve. She was very business oriented, and loved to cook and especially enjoyed the family Sunday dinners. She enjoyed watching the food network and you would often find her relaxing and swinging on the porch swing. All of these many interests faded in comparison to her love for her family. The grandchildren can attest to the fact that she loved to "spoil" them. Although many her age don't really take an avid interest in cell phones, she did. She loved to talk on the cell phone and her family loved it that she took such an interest in it. This hardworking, intelligent, caring, loving lady will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Jett left behind to cherish her memory three daughters: Janice( Michael) Beckman of Tuscumbia, AL, Jennifer (Tommy) Dale of Columbia, TN, and Belinda (Jeff) Huitt of the Mooresville Community; two sons: Joe M. (Paula) Jett, Jr. and Steve (Cindy) Jett, both of the Mooresville Community; brother, Tony (Betty Jo) Underwood of Mt. Pleasant, TN; a sister, Peggy Jean (Jack) Knox of Columbia, TN; her grandchidren: David White, Robin White, Adrienne Dale, Drew Huitt, Zack Huitt, Megan Huitt, Joe M. "Trey" Jett, III, and Jacob Jett; four great grandchildren: Hannah White, Kaleb Stone, Olivia White and Joseph Melvin Jett, IV.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Julia Lee Underwood.

Pallbearers will include: Michael Beckman, Tommy Dale, Jeff Huitt, Trey Jett, Jacob Jett, Drew Huitt, Zack Huitt, and Jerry Knox.
