Mr. Norman Newton, age 59, husband of Katona “Toni” Newton, and a resident of Cross Valley Drive in Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2011 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home at 11 AM with Pastor Carl Ballard officiating. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday December 20, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday December 21, 2011 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Alexander County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Howell Newton and the late Jessie (Smiley) Newton George. He was a hard working man. He was a truck driver and loved his semi truck. He loved his family dearly and took exceptional care of them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a Chicago Bears fan and loved to go fishing.

In addition to his loving wife Toni, he left behind to cherish his memory his three sons: Shannon Crandell of Columbia, TN, Bryan (Kelley) Newton of St. Louis, MO, and Tim (Bianca) Newton of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren; two brothers: Tony Newton of San Francisco, CA and Hallie Joe Newton of Centerville, TN; and two sisters: Phillis Legg of Hohenwald, TN and Dimple Foltz of Olive Branch, IL.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Crandell, Bryan Newton, Tim Newton, Sven Bodell, Charles Newman, and Bryan Legg.

Honorary pallbearers will include Larry McClennon and Dan Nixon along with his neighbors.
