Mr. Billy Wayne Staggs, age 63, and a resident of Webster Street in Columbia passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Hastings & Rev. Chad Roland officiating. The interment will follow in the Rose Hill cemetery. There will be three times of visitation for friends to pay their respect. Tuesday, January 17th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday morning before the funeral from 10:00 AM until the service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Staggs was born in Homestead, Florida to the late William Owen Staggs and the late Mary Ellen Staggs. He was a furnace worker and a former employee of Triangle Auto Springs and had served in the Army. Mr. Staggs was very well rounded in his interest. He liked working on cars, going to yard sales, and watching old movies. His faith was Non-Denominational and he was a member of the Acts Christian Center in Columbia and was a former Sunday School teacher. Mr. Staggs always known for telling everyone "thank you." He laughed, like to have fun, and he never met a stranger. Out of all the enjoyment mentioned above, he loved his family.
The ones that he loved and will greatly miss him include; two children, son Jason Wayne Staggs and daughter Tracy Lynn Staggs both of Columbia, three brothers; Ray (Dorothy) Staggs of Mt. Pleasant, Jimmy (Tippy) Staggs, and David (Shelia) Staggs, both of Columbia. Missing him will also be his granddaughter; Ashley Hammox of Columbia and two great-grandchildren, Azieanna Brown and Ra'asia Brown of Columbia, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Kelly Stafford, and his companion of 12 years, Christine "Chris" Burgett.
Pallbearers are Clarence Lewis, Tim Goar, Jerry Blackburn, Bobby Fox, Jon Harmon and Rick Crawford.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Maury Regional Cancer Center, on 3rd West; along with the caregivers at NHC Home Health.
