Mr. Robert Cornelius Norman, age 86, husband of the late Margrette Helen (Morgan) Norman and a resident of Thomas Drive in Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his daughter's residence.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Norman will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Brian Gregory, Joe Macer, Jerry Wilson and Mark Jamison officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Eastside Church of Christ. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to orphans, widows and Eastside Church of Christ Building Fund, 1024 E. Valley Dr., Columbia, TN 38401.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Houston Norman and the late Mattie (Davis) Norman. He served in the Marine Corp as a corporal during WWII and also during the Korean Conflict. He had retired from General Machine Works where he worked as a welder and in earlier years he had worked as a logger. He was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ. His greatest memory in life was when he was baptized on May 10, 2009. He stated, "I found salvation at the age of 83". He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.

Mr. Norman left behind to cherish his memory two daughters: Ola Marie (Shawn) Skelton and Roberta Ann (James) Bolton; four sons: Roger Dale (Beverly) Norman, James Houston (Wendy) Norman, Marvin (Patty) Dwight Norman and Robert Greg (Shelly) Norman; nine grandchildren: Jerry Dale Norman, Joey Norman, Brenda Kaye (Brandon) Boles, Odell (Maria) Norman, Charlie Norman, David Bolton, Kevin Bolton, Alex O'Neil, Robert Michael Norman, Terry (Judy) Ebenstein, Tara Lynn Ebenstein, and Allen James Ebenstein; and five great grandchildren: Chelsey Mari Norman, Will Boles, Briley Kaye Boles, Hunter Norman, and Victoria Norman.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene Norman, sisters: Sadie Norman, Ola Norman, Roberta Norman, Nora Lee Norman, brother, Odell Norman, Step brothers: Raymond Norman, an infant brother; William Norman, Step sisters: Annie Norman, Floy Norman, and Kathleen Norman, great grandchildren: Catherine Gail Norman, Clara Jewel Norman and Christian Neal Norman.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include: Larry Harris and the members of the Eastside Church of Christ.
