Victoria Lynn Mercado

September 6, 1954 - December 23, 2011

Mrs. Victoria “Vickie” Mercado, age 57 and a resident of Franklin, TN, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 6:00 PM, Friday, December 30, 2011 at West Franklin Baptist Church, 700 New Highway 96 West in Franklin, Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the church.

Vickie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and camping with her husband in the family RV. She was a veteran and proudly served her country as a member of the US Army.

She recently retired from Benton Hall Academy (BHA) in Franklin, where for more than 16 years she served as teacher, assistant athletics director and office manager. Her dedication and love for the staff and students of BHA, which specializes in educating children with disabilities, was unquestionable and demonstrated on a daily basis. Vickie had personal experience with her own two children who needed a specialized learning environment; she enrolled them in Benton Hall Academy long before she became an employee. She was a strong advocate for meeting the educational needs of children with disabilities.

Mrs. Mercado is survived by husband, Ruben Mercado; father, Dan G. Mills; mother, Patricia Ann Holford; sons, Reuben Mercado of Murfreesboro and Danny Mercado of Franklin; brother, Daniel Mills of WA; sisters, Dawn Zickler and Sheily Mills of WA; grandchildren, Reuben Mercado, Jr. and Lilly Mercado.
