Barb Farnsworth

March 23, 1954 - April 17, 2012

Barbara Jane "Barb" Farnsworth, age 58 of East Liverpool, Ohio, died Tuesday morning at the residence of her sister in St. Joseph, Tennessee, following a brief illness.

Her family will hold a "Celebration of Life" gathering at Grimm's Bridge in Ohio later this summer, assisted by Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia.

Barb was a lifelong resident of East Liverpool, OH and daughter of the late Harold William Farnsworth and Georgeanna Frances McGaffic-Minton, and was raised in the Presbyterian Church.

Barb attended the Southern Local High School as a member of the Class of '72, and became a potter. She worked for Homer Laughlin China in Newell, West Virginia. In July of 2011, she relocated to Key Largo, Florida to be near her grandchildren. Learning of the illness that would eventually take her life, she moved to Tennessee to be with her sister in her final days.

Barb loved life. She enjoyed the opportunity to be around nature, especially hanging out at the creek - swimming, hiking, and canoeing. She lived her life "on her own terms" according to her sister, and loved being with friends and family. Most remarkable to her life, Barb was "a woman with a good heart." For that, she will best be remembered.

Celebrating her life and memory are her sons: Shawn Patrick (Cherry) and Stace Carl Farnsworth of Key Largo, Florida; brothers: Bill Farnsworth (Punk) of East Liverpool, Ohio and Greg Minton (Melissa) of Chandler, Indiana; sisters: Sue Lightfoot (Jim) of St. Joseph, Tennessee, Darlene Anderson (Pete) of Wellsville, Ohio; step-father: David Minton of Boonville, Indiana; and two grandsons: Dane Henry and Chase Robert Farnsworth of Key Largo, Florida.
