Dr. Carl V. Hardy, age 71 and the husband of Cheryl Hardy, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Claiborne Hughes Health Center in Franklin, TN.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00PM Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Nashville Family Church, 1715 Columbia Avenue in Franklin, TN.
Dr. Carl V. Hardy initially attended General Motors Institute of Technology where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Delco-Remy and Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI for several years.
An avid boating enthusiast, he won the American Power Boat Association National Championship for OPC “T” Class Speed Endurance in Huddleston, VA in 1970.
A serious spinal injury during his racing years led him to rethink his career. He attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA where he was a member of Delta Delta Pi Fraternity and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic - Summa Cum Laude in 1980.
Upon completion of his D.C. he moved to Nashville where he maintained a thriving Chiropractic practice for 22 years until health related issues led to his retirement in 2002.
Dr. Hardy is survived by his wife of 22 years Cheryl Lankford Hardy of Franklin, TN; children – Andrew Hardy, Allen Hardy, Alex Hardy (all of Franklin, TN) Mark Hardy (Concord, N.C) Brenda Hardy (Flint, MI) and step-son Aaron Ellis (Christiana, TN). Siblings – Lou Dayton (Houston, TX) and Vicky Vergo (Security, CO). Dr. Hardy had 5 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father James Leslie Hardy, mother Martha May Hickey, brother George Hardy, and daughter Karen Doemer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Dr. Hardy’s memory.
