Mr. R C Oliver, age 71, husband of Christine Hendrix Oliver and a resident of E. 16th Street in Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, June 6th at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, June 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Brandon Stutts. The family will visit with friends in the Hunter Room of Heritage Funeral Home on Friday afternoon from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and again two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery in Lynnville. Bearing Mr. Oliver to his final rest will be pallbearers: Jimmy Dean, Thomas Dean, Louis Hill, Keith Brown, Joe Briggs, and Anthony Oliver. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Oliver was born August 30, 1940 and was raised in the Lynnville area of Giles County. He was the son of the late William Clayton Oliver and Louise Ferguson Oliver. He was a tree surgeon and loved nature and being a part of it. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Jimmy “Cookie” Oliver and two sisters: Virginia Oliver and Ann Young.

R C and his wife, Christine, have been together for over 50 years. She will cherish his memory along with their three sons: Clay (Angelene Woodson) Oliver, Terry (Kathy) Oliver, and Chris (Virginia) Oliver all of Columbia; a brother: W C Oliver of Bowling Green, Indiana; two sisters: Wanda Hill and Sandra Oliver both of Mt. Pleasant; a grand-daughter: Bethany Oliver-Martin; and one great-grandson: Tristan Martin.
