Byron D. McGavock, Jr.

August 9, 1930 - June 18, 2012

Mr. Byron McGavock, Jr, age 81, husband of Joyce Wilson McGavock and a resident of McMeen Circle in Columbia, Tennessee passed away Monday June 18, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. McGavock, Jr. will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home at 6:00 PM with Bro. Wendall Walker officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM until the 6:00 PM funeral hour. Interment will be in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Byron Dinnie McGavoch, Sr. and the late Rosie McGavoch Stevenson. He served in the United States Army and retired from Premier Job Service at the Saturn Plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He was a loving family man and was especially devoted to the love of his life, his wife Joyce. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and loved to pick turnip greens. His sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Joyce, he left behind to cherish his memory one son, one step-son, four daughters, one step-daughter, two brothers, three sisters, twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son and one sister.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his granddaughters will serve as flower bearers.
