Mr. Roger Smithson, age 56, husband of Debbie Smithson, and a resident of Culleoka, TN passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 10 at 10 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Cecil Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Thursday, August 9 from 4 - 8 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge and assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 7, 1956 in Franklin, TN, Roger was the son of James Smithson and the late Ethel Harris Smithson. He worked in construction and drove a semi for years. He was an extremely hard worker and would learn whatever he needed in order to succeed. He loved being out by the river, and he spent a lot of time outdoors deer hunting, fishing, and frog giggin, even during his illness. He never met a stranger and would stop what he was doing to help others. He especially loved his family and fought hard for them as well as for his health. Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by his father: Aubrey "Pop" Smitty Smithson of Culleoka; three sons: Troy (Rachel) Smithson, Daryl Smithson, Derrek Smithson all of Culleoka; three brothers: James "Jimmy" Aubrey (Jerlene) Smithson Jr. of Lewisburg, David Wayne (Sheila) Smithson of Culleoka, Jeff Allen (Sarah) Smithson of Culleoka; sister: Terrie Elaine Smithson Roland of Culleoka; and three grandchildren: Dustin, Brandon, and Destiny.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his sisters: Peggy Williams and Judy Woodard and brothers: Larry Smithson and Jerry Smithson.

Pallbearers will be Robert Ashworth, Josh Ayers, Nathan Ayers, Wayne Sullivan, Timmy Dunkle, and Clint Smithson.
