August 11, 2012

Margaret (Maggie) Shaughnessy Kendall left this world Saturday, August 11 for her place in Heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Shaughnessy of New York City. Maggie leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, David L. Kendall. She is survived by her sons, David (Barbara), Henry, and Joe (Kaye) as well as her grandson Jonathan whom she loved dearly.

Maggie is survived by two sisters, Pat and Monica and sister-in-law Jean Ponschil. She leaves behind nieces Jane, Liza, Susan, Mary Catherine, Martha Ann, Joanne and nephews Joe, Brian, Mark and Joe (deceased)

Maggie will be missed by her dogs Tootsie, Lucy and Cricket who shared the bed with her! Maggie’s great gray horse, Emma, will miss her and her treats.

Special friends include the Masters and members of the Cedar Knob and Hillsboro Foxhounds. Maggie always held a special place in her heart for Father Philip Breen and St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville.

Maggie was a graduate of Marymount School, 5th Ave, New York City and New York University’s School of Nursing. She taught nursing at Nashville Tech and the Tennessee Technology Center in Pulaski.

Maggie was especially fond of helping young ladies. She was always happy to give advice and council. She missed having a daughter!

A reception to celebrate her life will be held at their farm, Erin House, in Cornersville, TN at a date to be announced. The family asks in-lieu-of-flowers or charitable contributions that everyone take a loved one to dinner, enjoy a glass of wine and celebrate life – it’s beautiful but short.

You may send condolences to the family at the top of this page.
