Mrs. Margaret Carpenter, age 73, wife of Jim Carpenter and a resident of N. James Campbell Blvd in Columbia, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at her residence.

Funeral services will be Thursday September 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vann and Rev. Hubert Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow at Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Hunter Room of Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, TN Margaret was born on August 26, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Louise King. She entered into marriage with Jim in 1957. Margaret was a Christian lady who was a long- time member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was an extremely loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: Terry (Annette) Carpenter of Mt. Pleasant, TN; daughters: Teresa (Keith) Dixon of Columbia, TN, Tammy (Dwayne) Grooms of Rainbow City, Al; brother: Gary (Vickie) King of Columbia, TN; sister: Jane Smith of Brentwood, TN; six grandchildren: Kenny (Lois) Carpenter, Janet Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, Miranda Roberts, D.J. (Kylie) Grooms, Kayla (Brooks Robinson) Grooms; and two great-grandchildren: Easton Grooms and Kade Robinson. She is also survived by her special dog: Buster; best friends: Barbara Rountree and Linda Luna; special nephew: Darrell King; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her brother: Harold (Bubba) King; sister: Nancy King.

Pallbearers will be: Donald (Duck) Sharp, Joe Martin, Jerry Vick, Darrell King, Roy Wayne Grooms, and Junior King.

Honorary pallbearers are: Larry & Susie Chatman, St. Luke Adult I Sunday School Class, Tuesday Prayer and Share Group, Amos McCoy, Hospice Compassus, and Dr. Bennie Gardner.
