Mr. Glenn Harris, age 80, and a resident of Houston Drive in Columbia passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at NHC-Hillview in Columbia, TN.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 15 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango and Rev. Hubert Cunningham officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 3:00 until the service hour at 7:00. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of and assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Glenn was born on January 27, 1932. He was the son of the late Sam D. Harris and the late Nora Glenn Harris Rose. He was of the Baptist faith and a previous route salesman for Convenience Services. He was an avid listener of the Grand Ole Opry and was a good people person. He enjoyed Nascar, wrestling, and baseball. Glenn especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews whom he was like a father to.

He is survived by four daughters: Carolyn (Mike) Littrell of Columbia, TN, Paula (Porter) Alexander of Columbia, TN, Cindy (Kenny) Dooley of Summertown, TN, Patricia (John Paul) Brown of Venice, FL; and brother: Wendell (Lunette) Harris of Columbia. Glenn was also survived by his very devoted grandchildren: Timothy (Cheryl) Thurman, Chris (Tammy) Thurman, Christy Parrish, Amanda Alexander, Ihrian Brown, Dr. Christina Brown; two very special great- grandchildren: Samantha Thurman and John Michael Wright; special niece: Pam Lockhart; several loving nieces and nephews; two very special great-great-nephews: Bishop and Elijah Turrentine; three very special great-great-nieces: Saderia Mulholland, Anaya M. Natt, and Kierra Grandberry; and a very special friend: Barney Roland.

In addition to his parents, Glenn is preceded in death by his brother: Robert Harris, and four sisters: Shirley Ann Harris, Minnie Lou Westmoreland, Frances Crumley, and Alice Kelley.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the entire staff of NHC- Hillview, Ms. Lynne Dobbins, Mr. Jay Harmon for his devoted care of their father, Hospice Compassus, Dr. James Cummins Couch, Ms. Karen Perry, Dr. Daniel Skarzwynski, David Lee Bellafant and family, Rev. Steve Swango and Loyal Freewill Baptist Church, St. Luke United Methodist Church, and Highland Park Baptist Church.
