Evelyn R. Parham Alexander

June 17, 1932 - September 29, 2012

Mrs. Evelyn Parham Alexander, age 80 of Columbia, went to meet the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Maddox officiating. Interment will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery in the Bethel Community of Maury County. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 – 8 PM, and again on Tuesday until the funeral hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn was born on June 17, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Jim Turner and the late Fannie Lee Hagler Fly Turner Perryman of the Fly- Santa Fe Community. She married Jessie Wilburn Parham in 1947 with whom she had her nine children. In 1985 she entered into holy matrimony with Frank Alexander who passed away on August 6, 2011. Mrs. Evelyn worked at the Dixie Maid Restaurant and Dairy Chef before owning her own restaurant, Evelyn’s Café on North Garden Street for several years. Evelyn was a member of Straightway Christian Center (Pentecostal). She enjoyed making quilts as well as spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Jessie Ray Parham, E. Lee (Charles) Dillehay, Norma Jean Parham (Thomas Bojko), Nancy (Billy) Stanfill, John (Rhonda) Parham; stepsons: Joe (Darlene) Alexander, Dennis (Becke) Alexander, Jeff (Cheryl) Alexander; grandchildren: Jesse James Parham, April Parham, Amanda Jewell (Chris) Gregory, Robert Johnson, Crystal Blocker, Marissa Cobb (Danny) Tougett, Daniel Cobb, Dalton Parham, Samantha Parham, John Wayne Parham; and step-grandchildren: Chuck (Kim) Dillehay, Susan Dillehay (Mike) Vanous. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Jesse Jordan Parham, and Jason Alexander Parham, Nathaniel Huntzinger, Derrick Parham, Jay Gregory, Corey Miller, Shane Cobb, Haven Cobb, Skylar Cobb, Will Cobb, Auluvin Gerig; and step-great-grandchildren: Jonah, Caleb, and Emmie Rose Dillehay, and Matthew and Noah Vanous. There are also several nieces and nephews as well as her special friends: Janice Brown and Mary Yount.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: B.G. Fly, John Henry “Johnny” Fly, Rosa Lee Fly Adkisson, Martha Fly Scott, Ethel Fly Rezardi and Irene Turner Reese; children: Wilburn Allen Parham, James Alton Parham, John Steven Parham, Peggy Parham Johnson; granddaughters: Patricia Mae Blocker, Jennifer Johnson Helton; grandson: Cheyenne Blocker; and former husband: Jessie Wilburn Parham.

Pallbearers will be Jesse James Parham, Daniel Cobb, Chris Gregory, Chuck Dillehay, Brent Lemay, and Josh Parham.

Her great-grandsons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who provided for her care at Maury Regional Medical Center and Life Care Center of Columbia.
