Mr. Rick Thomas, age 38, and a resident of Crestland Drive in Columbia passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2012 at 6PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Jeff Crews officiating. The family will visit with friends for visitation from 4 – 6 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements.

Rick was born on May 7, 1974 in Warren, Michigan. He was the son of Pamela & Keith Ebert, of Columbia, and Richard Thomas of Orlando, FL. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a loving father who had a golden smile and a sparkle in his eye. He loved his family and was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He was a huge football and NASCAR fan, and previously showed horses and won many awards and trophies from that.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by daughter: Mikayla Thomas of Mt. Gilead, Ohio (and her mother, Jody); sisters: Melissa Alexander of Columbia, Michelle Thomas of Orlando, FL; grandmothers: Betty Ray of Waynesboro, Lorraine Tucker of Michigan; aunts and uncles: Roger (Paulette) Ray, Larry (Melissa) Ray, Julie (Greg) Ducharme, Dianne “Dee” (Ed) Portis, Karen (Rex) Crews, Cindy Smith, Ann (Adam) Carducci, Laura (Luke) Franklin, Tom (Cindy) Tucker, and several cousins. Rick was a special uncle to Rheanna and Kameron.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers Howard Ray and Gerald Tucker.
