Mrs. Ruth "Jenny" Sisk Cates, age 72 of Pullen Mill Rd in Culleoka, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Monday, January 14, 2013.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Cates will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Chad Roland and Rick Points officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Charlie Sisk and Luther Harvey and Katie Mai Sanders Harvey. She attended Central High School and was a long time employee of Edric Manufacturing and Woolworth's. She retired from Union Carbide in 1994 and was a member of New life Baptist Church in Theta. This hardworking and loving lady mother was instrumental in raising many children as she was a 'mother' to so many children. She enjoyed Blue Grass music and loved to go Buck Dancing and Square Dancing. She also enjoyed going to singings and she was a singer herself. She was a perfect example of unconditional love as the Apostle Paul taught about in I Corinthians chapter 13. She truly loved her family and was devoted to them. Her one and only granddaughter, Jade held a very special place in her heart. Although she will be greatly missed, she left behind a legacy of love and acceptance to all who knew her.

She left behind to cherish her memory; daughters: Sheila (Hal Hardison) Stewart of Culleoka, TN, Bethany Cates Hunt of Nashville, TN, one granddaughter, Jade (Richard) Upton of Cornersville, TN; brother, Don (Alma) Sisk of Columbia, TN; sisters: Elaine (Olie) Thomas of Culleoka, TN, Judy (Charles) Lee of Culleoka, TN, Linda (James) Ballinger of Columbia, TN, Lois (Joe) Kelley of Culleoka, TN, Patricia (Ronald) Luna of Culleoka, TN, Ruby Powers of Nashville, TN, Dorothy Wilkes of Austin, TX, Laura Mayoza of Hernando, MS, Shirley Tice and Joyce Fowler both of Lewisburg, TN; two step daughters: Diane Cates Greenfield and Vickie Cates Witherspoon both of Winter Haven, FL, two sisters-in-law, Delores Sisk and Clara Harvey, best friend since first grade, June Davidson Hoyle of Columbia, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her daughter Sheila, Bob Walker Stewart; her second husband Gene Cates; three sisters: Frances Sisk Young, Jessie Fay Sisk and Beatrice Harvey Malone; six brothers: Edward Sisk, William Thomas (Tom) Sisk, Luther Harvey, Jr., Charles Harvey, Johnnie Harvey and Joe Vernon Hayes; son-in-law, Steve Potts and special friend of 18 years, Richard Stanfill.

Pallbearers will be Scott Luna, Shane Luna, Donnie Walls, David Walls, Jason Kelley, Tim Lee, Kenny Sisk, Christian Cahill, Randy Young and Roger Young.

Honorary Pallbearers will include: Jerry Young, Danny Sisk, Daniel Walls, Dean Dial, Ricky Peden, Mike Primm, Tracy Potts and all great nephews.
