Nina Lee Johns Severson

August 4, 1932 - January 20, 2013

Nina Lee Johns Severson, age 80, a resident of Mt. Pleasant and formerly a 56 year resident of Dias Ave in Sacramento, CA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home; Bro. Dustin Laster of Hampshire Baptist Church will officiate. Private Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Maury County on August 4, 1932 to Porter Bingham Johns, Sr. and Janie Lynn Johns, she was the seventh born of nine children and lived at Cross Bridges prior to moving to California. She married Donald Jackson Severson of Sacramento on October 21, 1961 and was married forty-four years at the time of his death on May 8, 2005. She was salutatorian of the 1950 graduating class of Hampshire High School. She held a degree in computer programming from Sacramento Community College and was the IT director and computer programmer for the Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Company for thirty-nine years prior to her retirement in 1998. Nina gave her life to Jesus at the Cross Bridges Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and was a member of a Baptist Church in Sacramento. Mrs. Severson was devoted to her husband and Chihuahuas, Sweetie and Pepper. She was a loving sister who has left a great void in the lives of the Johns family.

She is survived by her four siblings, three sisters: Evelyn Dooley of Fayetteville, Frankie (Carter) Bostick of Mt. Pleasant, Linda (Norman) Orton of Lawrenceburg; one brother: Billie Ray (Janis) Johns; and a special friend and co-worker, Nancy Wagnon of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her older sister, Mary Edith Kelley, at age 92, sister, Lily Gertrude Jones Nash; two brothers: Porter B. Johns, Jr., Mahlon Jackson Johns; two brothers-in-law: Archie Kelley, Billy Dooley; and a special friend and co-worker, Robin Luppino of Sacramento.

Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
