Mr. Charles Johnnie Oglesby “Shakey,” age 59, and a resident of Columbia departed his life on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jones Hill Cemetery in Kirkland, TN. The family will also receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.
Charles was born in Williamson County on April 13, 1953. He went to school in College Grove, Tennessee. He worked for Keenan Farms for many years. He was affectionately known as “Shakey” by his friends and family. He was a nice, loving, considerate man who never met a stranger. Charles was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Beech Grove Church in College Grove, Tennessee. He loved Tennessee walking horses.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Bertha Oglesby; loving wife, Monica Bennett-Oglesby; son, Andraus Booker- Oglesby; daughters: Felicia Lee, Menishea Leach (Calvin); step-daughter, Aniyah Brown; very devoted friend, Genita Cecil; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his devoted sisters, Vanessa Oglesby, Mary Oglesby; niece, Rita (Rodney) Patton; nephew, Steven (Kesha) Oglesby; aunt, Geneva Thompson; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. William Officer; sisters-in-law: Sadie Oglesby, Melanie and Moneika Officer; brother-in-law, Cordell Bennett; devoted friends: Leon Hodge, Joe Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Petey Ennis, Madeline Harper, Sue Ann Cobble, The Booker family, The Keenan family; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Leon Oglesby, James Oglesby, Tom Oglesby, and Larry Oglesby; sisters: Sarah Oglesby, Sue Oglesby, and Ella Louise Rucker.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Core Physicians and also the staff of Maury Regional Medical Center.
