Mr. Walter Wendell Bowen, age 53, husband of Heather Bowen, and a resident of Timberland Drive in Columbia, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Lindstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends for visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements.
A native of Giles County, and a 1978 graduate of Campbellsville High School, Wendell was born on March 16, 1960 and was the son of the late Walter and Tonie Workman Bowen. He attended Grace Church of the Nazarene and worked as a truck driver for Sequatchie Concrete. He loved fishing and also enjoyed NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons: Sgt. Randall Wayne Bowen, Justin Bowen, Jonathan Bowen, Jacob Bowen; daughter, Tonya (Bubba) Bolton; step-son, Benjamin Iglesias; brother, Randy (Jeanette) Bowen; two sisters, Donna Campbell, Lorrie (Danny) Martin; grandson, Hunter Bolton, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Chapman, Frank Workmen, Jodi Melton, Butler Nichols, David Barnett, and Paul Martin.
The Employees of Sequatchie Concrete, Dr. Woodly, and the cancer center staff will serve as honorary pallbearers.
