Mrs. Rebecca Marlene Reese Slaughter, age 64, wife of Arthur Slaughter, a resident of Water Valley Road in Santa Fe, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Slaughter will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM Heritage Funeral Home with Kenneth Unger officiating. Burial will follow in Fly Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Rebecca was born on June 9, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Marvin Knox and Mary Irene Turner Reese, Sr. She worked as a supervisor for South Central Human Resources for over twenty years. She enjoyed embroidering, puzzle books, crafts, gardening, and bird watching. Mrs. Slaughter was an amazing Christian woman who loved everyone, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her family described her as being an extremely sweet lady.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Nancy Lumpkins; brothers: Marvin Knox (Linda) Reese, Jr., Ronald Dean Reese, Lewis Thomas Reese, James (Debbie) Reese; sisters: Mattie Robenia (Fred) Smith, Shelia (Raymond) Reed, Lee (Scott) Bailey; grandchildren: Christopher Dobek, Stephanie Jones, Jessica Jones Armstrong, Emily Lumpkins, J.T. Slaughter; and great-grandchildren: Alayna Thompson, Jay Thompson, Addison Grimes, Brayden Lumpkins, Josiah Armstrong, and Bella Dobek. She is also survived by a special brother-in-law: John David Slaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Gary Houston Reese, son: Arthur Haden Slaughter, Jr., and grandson: Brandon Haden Slaughter.

Rebecca’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
