On Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013 , Doris Ann Rowlette Lockwood passed away quietly at her home in Franklin.
The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Historic Downtown Presbyterian Church, located at Five Points in Franklin. Reverend Dennis Smith will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 11 :00 AM until the service hour at the church. Mrs. Lockwood will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Born June 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Vernon and Eunice Lester Rowlette. She was born and spent her childhood in Rutherford County. Doris moved to Williamson County, after her marriage to Dexter Lockwood in 1943, and dedicated her life as a loving wife of 52 years, a mother and a homemaker. Always a farm girl at heart, she never outgrew her love for the countryside, gardening, cooking and lending a helping hand.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Eugene Rowlette and Roscoe Clemons; her sisters: Aileen Stem and Mary Frances Stem; and husband: Murlin Dexter Lockwood.
She is survived by her daughter: Kaye Lockwood of Franklin; her granddaughter: Courtney Hood of Green Hills; and faithful caregivers: Carolyn Bandy and Lisa Dotson.
Active Pallbearers will be Lowell Humphries, Michael Wiggins, Paul Pojar, Alan Costa, George Lamb, Hillious Sullivan, Rick Saylor and Pete Tulloss.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the Guardian Hospice Associates for their genuine kindness and concern throughout the last eighteen months.
Heritage Funeral Home–Franklin is assisting the family and is in charge of the arrangements.
