Ora Calvert, age 100, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements.

Ora was born in Swift Town, Mississippi on October 17, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Rosie Coffell Gary and the oldest of fourteen children. She moved to Columbia in 1994 and was a member of New Life Church on Cayce Lane. She loved her family and enjoyed seam stressing and cooking.

She is survived by her son: Emmett (Bertha) Calvert, Jr. of Columbia; brother: Albert (Tomosina) Gary of Columbia; sister: Louise Williams of Chicago, IL; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a special friend: Lena Childress; and a host of nieces and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Jones, Sr; son: Robert Lee Calvert; daughter: Bertha Mae Shelton; and eleven brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Mark Pittenger, Roger Spilker, John Parris, Corey Shelton, Carl Calvert, Douglas Jones, and Jeffery Gary.

Memorial donations may be made to the We Care Food Ministry c/o New Life Church: 6111 Cayce Lane, Columbia, TN 38401.
