Mr. Ted Ellington “Papa” Ring, Sr., age 84, a resident of Wedgewood Drive in Columbia, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be conducted at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Greg Gwynn officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery in Hampshire. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ring was born on September 21, 1928 in Davidson County but had resided in Maury County for the last 59 years. He was the son of the late A.C. and Eva Holcomb Ring. He worked as a mill right for several different businesses throughout the southeastern United States during his working years. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at a couple of different plants.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lee Crabtree Ring; two daughters: Paula (Gary) McCandless, Linda (Thomas) Claiborne; two sons: Ted (Sandra) Ring, Jr.; Rusty (Patsy) Ring; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother: Billy Joe (Pauline) Ring; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his little dog, Molly, who never left his side during his illness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Thomas W. “Tom-Tom” Ring; grandson: Adam W. Ring; and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will include members of Collegevue Church of Christ, Dr. Shawn Gentry, and Larry Yeager.
