A native of Williamson County, Joe was born on February 13, 1926 and was the son of Joe and Nellie Morgan King. He served his country in the United States Navy, worked as a farmer for the majority of his life, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

The topics dearest to his heart were his cattle and livestock, and his days in the Navy. Joe would share his experiences with his family and friends, and talk fondly of his love of working the land. He was known to work tobacco, raise his livestock, and in later years even tend to his garden. When he was able to travel, he especially enjoyed trips between Mexico and Texas.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory four sons: Joe (Joanne) King, Jr. of Columbia, William Eddie (Rosemary) King of Columbia, Danny King of Columbia, Harold (Susan) King of Columbia; a daughter: Betty (Jerry) Martin of Lyles; three sisters: Mary Lillard of Franklin, Marie Hooper of Nashville, and Catherine of California; eleven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four siblings: Charlie, Millard, Bonnie, and Martha.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
