Mrs. Margaret Swindle Brown, age 85, of Columbia, TN passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Morning Pointe of Columbia.
A Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 25th at 10am with Pastor Mike Stalnaker officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of and assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret was born October 7, 1927 in Oakman, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late John Wade Underwood and Ida Pheifer. Margaret worked in sales and management at Parks Belk and WC Grants department stores. In her spare time, she was very talented in making ceramic figurines, and was a wonderful cook. Some of her other hobbies included sewing, dancing, crossword puzzles, and painting. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her sons: Jim (Elizabeth) Swindle of Columbia, TN and Gary Wayne (Teresa) Swindle of Magnolia, MS; daughter: Judith Carol Russell of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands: James Wilson Swindle and Milton Brown; brothers: Jay, Ronald, Leon, Roger, and Joe; and sisters: Madeline and Ruth.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne and Ann Pogue, Curtis Dowdy, the Employees of Morning Pointe, Dr. Steven Simmons, Members of the Columbia and Spring Hill Fire Department, and Members of the Highland Church of Christ.
