Mr. Larry Wendell Johnson, age 71, and a resident of Nolensville, passed away on Monday morning, September 30, 2013 at his residence.

The family will celebrate his life with services at Triune Baptist Church on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Reed Buntin officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Saturday from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Triune Baptist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born on July 30, 1942 in Tylertown, Mississippi, Larry was the son of the late Harold Pine and Gladys Olivia Johnson. He worked 45 years with the railroad and previously worked for Canadian National Railway. Larry also worked 8 years as a dairy farmer. He was a basketball referee at Nolensville Recreation Center, a WCPR referee and umpire, was named the 2013 USSSA umpire of the year, and coached many levels of ball.

He is survived by his wife: Emily Johnson; son: Larry (Sandra) Wendell II of Angie, LA; daughters: Merinda Johnson of Nashville, Mashea Johnson of College Grove; sisters: Janie (Melvin) Siebert Tylertown, MS, Peggy King of Tylertown, MS; three grandchildren: Larry Wendell “Trey” Johnson III, Trent Johnson, Tristyn Reese Johnson-Jones; great grandchild: Kaiden Charlie Johnson; and very special friends: Christi Russell, Heather Johnson-Jones, and Rosemary Sumner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Harold Lloyd Johnson and sister: Clara Jean McKenzie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Adams, James Marlin, Gary Stanley, Marlene Martin, and Jerry Moore.
