David Lee Estes

March 11, 1975 - October 15, 2013

Mr. David Lee Estes, age 38, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his residence.

The family will celebrate David’s life with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial Services will begin at 3:00 PM, officiated by Sister Regina Black, and including special music and memories shared by those gathered.

David was born March 11, 1975 in Columbia. He was the son of David H. Estes of Culleoka, and the late Elizabeth McCullom Estes. He was a 1993 graduate of Culleoka Unit School, and had most recently worked with Western Tool & Safety.

David had a passion for life, as was exhibited in his adventurous spirit. He loved music and had a God-given voice and piano talent, which he shared whenever possible. No matter the situation, David’s quick wit and sense of humor was always able to brighten a room. He loved to provide his closest friends and family members with nicknames, and even enjoyed teasing those closest to him. He will be remembered for his fantastic gardening and floral skills, and amazing ability in cooking.


He is survived by his son: Jacob Estes of Columbia; his father: David H. Estes of Culleoka; a brother: Timothy (Sherrie) Estes of Culleoka; 3 sisters: Sandy Pugh of Summertown, Patricia Brown of Columbia, and Tammy Wills of Culleoka; his grandmother: Mary Etta Estes of Culleoka; and Tara Crowe, whom he helped raise as his own. Additionally, he is survived by a number of aunts, uncles and extended family, and the mother of his son: Christy Estes of Columbia.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Martin Scott and two special nephews: Michael Estes and Hunter Estes.
