Mrs. Mary R. “Billie” Lovett, age 82 of Columbia, and wife of Dorris Lovett, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Graymere Church of Christ, with Brother John Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Lovett was born January 7, 1931 in Maury County and was the only child of William Albert and Mary Russell Rinks. She graduated from Columbia Central High School and attended Cumberland University, Vanderbilt University, and Peabody College. She married Dorris Lovett on June 18, 1954 and has shared life experiences for the past 59 years.

She then went to work at National Carbide where she worked as the Secretary for the Plant Manager. She quit work in 1964 to have her only child, Todd Lovett.

Billie was a member of Graymere Country Club for forty three years and enjoyed playing golf along with being outdoors, especially RV’s and houseboating. She enjoyed Florida where she and her husband spent a few months out of the year for the past 20 years.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Dorris Lovett of Columbia; she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Todd & Pam Lovett of Columbia; two grandchildren: Alexandria (Greg) Boyd and Haley Lynn Lovett; and a great-grandchild: Sawyer Boyd. First cousins Patsy Rainey Cline of Nashville, Harold Johnson of Georgia and Clifford Russell of California.

Pallbearers will be Billy Winn, Ben Woody, Greg Boyd, Marvin Brady, Eric Chappell, Allen Tate, Dale Tate, and Butch Tate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clemmine “Sissy” Jones, James & Mary Farris, Earl & Faye Cooper, and Linda Staggs.
