Tracy Mitchell

July 27, 1968 - November 8, 2013

Tracy Lynn Bass Mitchell, age 45 of Columbia, passed away Friday evening, November 8, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She suffered a massive stroke at the end of her workday on Thursday. Her family was able to gather around her in her final moments on Friday.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Hubert Cunningham. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 10 at Heritage Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born July 27, 1968 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL, Tracy was the daughter of Wayne and Linda Phelps Bass. She was a 1986 graduate of Columbia Central High School and of the Protestant faith.

Tracy was working at Cool Springs Toyota in Franklin, but will be best remembered for her 17 years meeting the public at the Maury County Clerk's Office in Columbia. Her strong work ethic and outgoing personality was always enjoyed by those visiting the Clerk's office. She was considered helpful and friendly, and always a team player. Tracy was an avid fan of Alabama football, but loved her family more than anything.

She is survived by her parents: Wayne and Linda Bass; a son: Terry Wayne "T.J." Cross; two daughters: Makenzie Mitchell and Madison Mitchell; her sister: Sandy (Paul) Workman; a niece and nephew: Kerry and Kayce Workman, all of Columbia; her daughters' father: J.C. Mitchell; her son's father: Terry Wayne Cross; and several aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.

Tracy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Roy and Francis Bass.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of the Maury County Clerk's Office, and her co-workers at Cool Springs Toyota.
