Linda M. Mogge, age 70 of Columbia, passed away early Tuesday morning December 3, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00 until 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. A Memorial Service for Linda will begin at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Linda was born December 30, 1942 in Long Beach, California and was the daughter of the late Raymond August Mogge and Zedna Faye Walters Mogge Neal. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and taught physical education for over 20 years. She continued her education and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling. Linda served in the Naval Reserves for a period of time but determined her passion was in counseling and therapy. Most recently she was a counselor for Centerstone, serving in Giles and Marshall Counties, where she was the clinic manager and therapist. She had licenses in psychology, substance abuse and as a professional counselor.

In earlier years, Linda was athletic and enjoyed many sports, especially baseball, and also clogging. Later in life she found herself behind the camera lens recording the experiences and beauty around her while hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. She also travelled extensively in Europe, the Caribean

Linda is survived by her step-father: James Edward Neal of Columbia; a brother: Neil (Mary Alice) Mogge of Dickson; two aunts: Norma Mansker and Virginia Walters, both of Missouri; nieces and nephews: Raymond Neil Mogge, John Stephen McKinney, Cheryl Ann Roth and Gwyn Ellen Shepard; as well as 4 great-nieces and nephews; and 4 great-great-nieces and nephews.
