John H. Elizer

October 4, 1955 - January 23, 2014

John H. Elizer, age 58, of Columbia, passed away Thursday morning, January 23, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 7:00 PM from the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born October 4, 1955 in Kentucky and was the son of the late John Wesley and Mary Walls Elizer. He worked as an assistant to the Davidson County Sherriff for 15years. John was a strong willed man who loved sports. He was an avid UT fan, but also enjoyed Vandy and the Titans. In recent years he had become a dog lover as well.

John is survived by his wife: Tammy Elizer of Columbia; sons: Stephen Elizer of Nashville and Scott Stone of Columbia; daughters: Stephanie Gardner of Nashville and Sierra Stone of Columbia; brothers: Roger Elizer of Hendersonville and Odell Elizer of Gallatin; sister: Linda Brown of Indiana; and one grandchild: Callie Gardner.
