George E. Avery

September 2, 1927 - February 8, 2014

Mr. George E. Avery, age 86, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2014.

He will be laid to rest with military honors at a later date in Indiana. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born on September 2, 1927 in South Bend, IN. He was married to Mary Jean (Young) on October 5, 1945. They were married for 68 years. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the teamsters union. He drove a truck for 35 plus years and received over 25 driving awards including the Million Mile Safety Award. He has spent the last seven years living with his daughter and son-in-law Phil and Patricia Evans in Pulaski, Tennessee.

In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, he is survived by his wife: Mary Jean Avery of Pulaski; four sons, all of Indiana, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, and one brother. One son and three brothers preceded him in death.
