Surrounded by his loving family, Kerry “Lil Hemi” Strayhorn, age 26 of Napier Drive in Columbia, entered into eternity on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his residence.
A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Randell Webster. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
“Lil Hemi” was born June 16, 1987 in Hohenwald and was the son of Clarence Pride and Wescelia Strayhorn Anderson. He was a 2006 Graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of the Canaan AME Church. He enjoyed playing video games, rapping, and fishing. He also loved Chinese food, but had a passion for time spent playing with his children.
In addition to his parents, Kerry leaves to cherish his memory his devoted fiancé: Niccole McClenic; son: LaPray Strayhorn; daughter: Aurora Strayhorn; loving brother: Terry Strayhorn; two loving sisters: Tina Pride and Robin Strayhorn; devoted step-father: Dwight Anderson; several aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as longtime family friends: Dominque and James Baker, Jameela Owens, Mark McClenic, and Donta Yokley. He is also survived by his extended family: the Bumpas, the Brewer and the Owens families.
Those serving as pallbearers will be James Baker, Dominque Baker, Markey Cathey, Kevin Drake, Willis Jones and Jason Frierson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carvorious Morris, Mark McClenic Jr, Donta Yokley, Antawan Keels, Rick Davis and Jason Davidson.
