Sue Carolyn May Burton of Nashville, Tennessee

May 8, 1937 - January 31, 2016

Ms. Carolyn Burton, age 78, a resident of Nashville, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Wesley Pattison officiating. The family will also receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home of Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 8, 1937 in Giles County, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Tom Clifford May and the late Susie Hastings May Shelton. She worked 43 years in retail at Macy’s, formerly known as Castner Knotts.

She is survived by her son: Wesley Dwayne Burton; daughters: Denise Burton and Dawn Reed; brothers: Tommy (Shelia) May, James “Bubba” (Renee) Shelton; grandchildren: Leslie (Jackie) Butler, Hollie Payton; great-grandchildren: Seirra Burton, Zach Butler, Ethan Payton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson: Chaz Reed; and sisters: Phyllis Ann Holt and Peggy Holly.
