Neva V. Baggett age 91, a resident of Columbia, passed away at 1:25 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at New Life Baptist Church, 1507 Gravel Hill Rd. Columbia, Tennessee. Rev. Terry Stewart and Rev. Rick Points officiating. Simply Unique Cremation & Funeral Service of Spring Hill is assisting the family with arrangements.
Neva was born May 30, 1925 to the late Samuel Garvin Brown and the late Mary Edmonia Suttle Brown in Dry Pond, West Virginia. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and her church and was a member of the woman's missionary union. She was a former file clerk for Boeing of Cape Canaveral, FL. Ms. Neva was at Cape Canaveral for the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs, she was also there for the Cuban missile crisis. While working at Hercules Powder Company she was appointed as a bonds girl during WWII. She quilted for family, friends and church family as a former member of Blairsville Church of Christ. A bad break in her wrist in 2008, prevented her from quilting for her church family at New Life. She sewed and did alterations, loved collecting rocks, shells, knots in the limbs of trees and dolls. She will be remembered in Cocoa and Ft. Pierce, FL, Blairsville, GA, Spring Hill, and Columbia TN and West VA for her beautiful smile.
She is survived by a daughter; Gilda S. McIntosh, a son; Frank M. Guynn Jr., a brother; Samuel M. Brown (Marzena), a sister; Emma Hester Brown Carper (Roy), 3 granddaughters; Tammy Leigh Merritt, Paige Michelle Merritt and Stacy Sue Merritt, 5 great-granddaughters; Brittany Michelle Mitchell, Jessica Lee, Josi Guynn, Jennifer Nicole Indermuchle and Neva Kennedy O'Neal, 6 great-great grandchildren; Joshua Sean and Kellee Marie Mitchell, Jon Timothy Thompkins, Sarabella Zoel Jones, Jaylee Rae Johnston, Trenton Woodard and many nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband; Frank Marvin Guynn, Sr., Second husband; Markus Ralph Baggett, 1 sister; Erma Ahmo Canterbury, 3 brothers; Carl Emerson (Louise) Brown, Clendal Roberts (Ruth) Brown, Chalmer Gene (Elizabeth) Brown, 1 beloved nephew; Thomas Daryl “Tommy” Canterbury.
