Al Foster

Mr. Al Brown Foster, age 84, resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Military honors will be held by the United States Marine Corps. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12-1 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on October 16, 1933 in the Hilltown Community of Santa Fe, Al was the son of the late Samuel Keslor Foster and the late Ethel Mae Floyd Foster. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for three years during the Korean War Era. After the Marines, he began working as a mechanical engineer for National Cash Register for ten years before starting his own business, BMI, where he worked until he retired in 1995.

Al, along with Sarge Patterson and Malcolm Brady, were the founding members of the Honda Club back in the 1960s where they often took their bikes on trail and wood rides. During the late 60s and early 70s he was a member of the Jaycees. You could often find him tinkering with many different things. Al loved gardening, and later in life enjoyed fishing.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: A.B. (Melissa) Foster of Columbia, Teena (John) Morgan of Spring Hill; sister: Louise Batey of Franklin; grandchildren: Justin (Danielle) Riddle, Zachary (Kristona) Foster, Seth Foster; great grandchildren: Kadance Foster, Paisley Foster, Olivia Riddle; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years: Elna Iona Foster on November 28, 2017; and siblings: Clara Hutcherson, Margaret Fisher, and Sam Foster.
