Mrs. Geneva Pipkin, age 81, wife of Charles Pipkin, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at NHC Columbia.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM and again on Tuesday from 12-1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 25, 1937 in Lawrenceburg, Geneva was the daughter of the late Lester Garrard and the late Ida Chandler Garrard. She worked in dietary for many years for several different places including: Columbia Nursing Facility, NHC Hillview, and Monsanto. Geneva loved being outdoors going on walks, camping, and being on her pontoon on the water. She especially enjoyed travelling with her husband and always said, “The best trips where the ones unplanned.”

In addition to her husband, Charles of fifty-two years, she is survived by her son: Dewayne (Barbara) Hayes of Columbia; sisters: Eva Pearl Calton of Cleveland, OH, Helen Marie Cothron of Columbia; granddaughter: Jennifer Hayes of Columbia; great grandchildren: Lucas Jackson, Brantley Jackson, Lexie Stanfill, Logan Stanfill; and special niece: Jan (Marty) Roberts of Columbia.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ed Garrard, Alvin Garrard, Noven Garrard, Lester Garrard, Jr., Alton Garrard, and Joann Duberryy.

Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Jackson, Donnie Joe Cothron, Ben Davis, Joey Davis, Marshall Cothron, and Terry Cothron.

Honorary pallbearers will include the staff of Hospice Compassus.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus and the staff of NHC Columbia for their excellent care during this difficult time.
