Billy Gene Morgan

April 30, 1942 - July 24, 2018

Mr. Billy Gene Morgan, age 76, a resident of Manchester, previously of Columbia, passed away Tuesday evening, July 24, 2018 at Unity Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Donnie Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-7:30 PM with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 30, 1942 in Weaver, Alabama, Billy was the son of the late John Morgan and the late Lennie Wilkie Morgan. He served his country in the United States Army. He was Lodge Master at the Roosevelt Masonic Lodge #510 in Pontiac, MI, a member of the Detroit Moslem Shriners and the Masonic Lodge #31 in Columbia, TN. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for many years, Boy Scout Commissioner for Coffee County for two years. He served as the pastor of several churches in Michigan, the most recent being Decherd Mission Church in Decherd, TN.  Billy was the former President of the PTA at Westwood Elementary School. He worked twelve years as a skilled tradesman for Saturn of Spring Hill before retiring in 2002. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Shirley, whom he married on March 1, 1991. Above all, Billy loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Shirley, of 27 years, he is survived by his children: Russell (Elaine) Morgan of Shelby Township, MI, Randall (Chris) Morgan of Astatula, FL, Roxanne (Bryan) Rollison of Waterford, MI, Tammy Covington of Murfreesboro, TN, Terri Dawn Hildenbrandt of Columbia, TN; and was “Pops” to Matthew (Taylor) O’Field of Tullahoma, TN; brother: Edward (Cena) Morgan of Columbia, TN; special niece: Marty Forbus of Michigan; special nephew: John Forbus of Tullahoma, TN; several nieces and nephews; twenty-three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Sherry O’Field; sister: Minnie Tyson; and brothers: Harold Morgan, Earl Morgan, and Paul Morgan.

Pallbearers will be: Russell Morgan, Randall Morgan, Bryan Rollison, Jamie Cassidy, Heath Covington, Richard Morgan, Luke Morgan, and Matthew O’Field.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Christopher Cornelius, Matt Hicks, Taylor McCroskey, and Noah Carr.
